Old News: I'm obsessed with Spring Awakening.  My love and dedication as a Spring Awakening "Guilty One" began six years ago when a friend of mine was auditioning for a role in the cast.  Since then, I have met the composer, Duncan Sheik, as well as every cast member from the Broadway Cast and National Tours including Christy Altomare (Wendla, and CCM graduate), Jake Epstein (as seen on Degrassi, Melchoir), Matt Doyle (as seen on Gossip Girl, Melchoir), Andy Mientus (attending Univ. of MI., Hanschen), and Alexandra Socha (Wendla).  I have seen the show a total of 5 times (NYC, Louisville, and Cincinnati) and I have watched the performance while seated on the stage.  This is my all-time favorite musical and I HIGHLY recommend every one to see it.  Believe me, it is unlike anything you will ever see.

Beautiful Disaster (Cover- Kelly Clarkson)

I am trying to widen my pop repertoire, so I thought I would dive into the songs of Kelly Clarkson. I first decided to sing this song after I saw Gabby Garza (from the tour of Spring Awakening) perform it at a cabaret. I hope you like it!

I'm really digging Jeremy Scott's "The Church of Style" at fashion week.  I can honestly say, I would wear every single piece in that collection.  I especially love the stain glass dresses and the leather jacket.  I can't wait to see what more he brings to the table!

You know it's been a bad week when....

I have every reason to feel bitter, sad, angry, no, FURIOUS, and just down-right depressed.  When it rains it pours, but damn it, it has been pouring for two weeks straight.  I am writing this blog to tell you that you can never be too careful.  I'm not just speaking of only materialistic items, but your heart as well.  Protect your wallet and protect you heart.  And most importantly, don't try to steal money from me.

P.S.  Kent State Fashion Majors:  The person who stole from me is among us.  My wallet was taken in Rockwell's bathroom.  Therefore, take your purses inside the stall WITH you.  Don't leave it out on the counter.

Chris Craymer truly captures the essence of how I picture my love life to be.  Through his camera lens, he recreates scenes that most girls would consider adorably cute and romantic.  I find myself longing for that kind of relationship---one filled with so much love and attraction that the two of you can't bear to be apart.  It is as if separating from one another would tear you in half because you both functioned as one.  Love is hard to find, but once you do find it, loving him/her should be the easiest thing in the world.  It shouldn't feel complicated.  It should be as simple as three special words.  I love you.

What makes one feel beautiful?  Is it your family or friends?  What about your dazzling personality and genuine kind nature?  Many of us would say none of the above.  In reality, most woman can agree clothes, makeup, and jewelry make us feel beautiful.  Of course, there are several factors that contribute to our happiness and our feeling of confidence and beauty, but many (even I) rely on a shopping fix or a new lip color to boost spirits.

However, when do we say enough is enough and just be content?  The pressures to look good have grown to such great heights that  in 2008, over 10 million people turned to plastic surgery for non-medical reasons.  Liposuction, breast implants, nips, tucks, and BOTOX.  Perhaps referred to as one of the most common "minor" surgeries, Botox, can alter a face to the point we can no longer recognize the person.  What I find so outrageous is people are set out to find ways to slow down their aging and to keep a fresh young face.  Since when did aging become negative?  It is a part of life.   Sure, wrinkles and sagging make one feel old, but that is the way of life.  Sixty year-old women, should not look like they are in their 30s and most certainly should not have perky round breasts while the rest of their body is sagging in comparison.

Our generation is becoming so dependent on surgical procedures to halt the aging and to fix what some consider "imperfections".  What happened to true natural beauty?  Makeup is normal.  Botox and tattoo eyeliner is not.  One of the most recent procedures most talked about on celebrity gossip sites is the dozen of surgeries Heidi Montag went through.  I never thought I would mention her on my blog, but it HAS come to this.  Heidi looked like a natural, pretty woman before the surgeries.  I see her now and I am afraid she may melt in the sun.  She looks plastic.  Surely, men do not find that appealing.  If they do, well then, that is full proof of how superficial our world has become.


It is scary how books such as "Brave New World", written in 1931, have many parallels to the world we live in now.  What will be next?
